Colors

From a palette, the first color is the ground behind the lattice, the second the bars and the third the frame.

Original constructions. Each framework is drawn from its geometry, after the way Daniel Sheets Dye sorted Chinese lattice by its underlying framework. Nothing is copied from his figures, and the names here are plain descriptions, not traditional names. Ice-ray, called 冰裂纹 (bīng liè wén, cracked-ice pattern) in Chinese, imitates ice cracking on a pond. Here the cracks are random but wrap around the repeat, so the pattern still tiles without a seam.

The Chinese lattice maker sorts its designs by framework and nests frames inside openings, after Dye's method. No figure from the book is reproduced, and its group labels aren't used as names.
