Charted knit colorwork, written out as complete squares
Knit colorwork is a new tool in the pattern library. Each chart was drawn for this site and is written out as a complete square, from cast on to blocking, at your size and gauge.

What you get
- A chart with a color key and row numbers on the side each row starts from
- Written rows, color by color, in working order
- Repeats fitted to your stitch count, with matching edges and a garter border
- A float check that flags any row carrying a yarn more than about an inch at your gauge
- Yarn estimated per color, adding up to the total
- A printable PDF, plus SVG and PNG of the square and chart
Swatch in the pattern
Colorwork rarely matches the gauge of plain knitting, so each pattern asks for a swatch of its own chart. Enter what you measure, and the square, rows, floats and yarn all change to match. If you want one color instead, the knitting stitches are still there.
