Knit a complete square in any stitch
Each stitch in the knitting library now gives you a complete pattern for a square, such as a dishcloth or an afghan square, instead of only the rows that repeat. Pick 6, 8, 10 or 12 inches, enter your gauge, and the pattern is written for those numbers.

What each pattern includes
- Yarn weight, needle size, estimated yardage, notions and abbreviations
- Gauge and finished size, with a cast-on count that fits the stitch's repeat
- A garter stitch border on all four sides, to stop curling
- Numbered rows, an exact repeat count that ends on a wrong-side row, and stitch count checks along the way
- Binding off, weaving in the ends and blocking
- All of it in the printable PDF, and in the share link
Why the numbers hold up
The written rows come from the same chart as the stitch's preview. Our tests follow each pattern row by row at many sizes and gauges, counting every stitch and checking that the finished piece is within one repeat of square. Your own swatch still decides the real size, so measure it first.
